wow...

I've never heard that (that doesn't mean much though)....and the ones I've played were suprisingly nice playing/sounding basses. Congrats on the score...and cheaper than I've seen used ones for lately too.

I think he was talking about the bass in your avatar. It's a nice bass to play scales on, but from what I've heard, there's no truss rod.

If it stays out of the freezer for long periods it does warp. For the record, that isn't me and I did not create the photo. I happened upon it and stole it.

If there is wood, there are always necks that warp. Don't sweat the Dirnt horror stories and haters.

Instead, bask in the coolness, tone, and sincere Congrats on a really great deal. I love the dark punch of those Fender Dirnts. They are the closest thing to the Slab-body split coil P-bass that Fender has made since the '60s.

Play the heck out of it!!

FWIW-

I believe there are a bunch of Dirnts out there with bad necks. Warped necks that the truss can't fix. I've seen a couple first-hand. One was heat-pressed, and that helped somewhat.

BUT, those are Squier Dirnt's and I expect it was only a problem during a certain manufacturing period. I have not heard of there being any neck problems with the Fender Dirnt's.

I wouldn't give it another thought.

What a score! You could easily flip that bass for 500 bucks. I had one in black, great bass. A little heavy though.

I don't give a hoot about Mike Dirnt but I like the combination of the '51 styling with the more modern split pickup. I once owned a '55 re-issue and dug it but felt the pickup wasn't in the "sweet spot" for me.

It came yesterday and it is just like the auction stated. I can't find even the smallest of button scratches. The neck has no warpage. It's strung with flats and it has that old school thump.

I had the same model/color bass for almost 2 years with no issues. Loved the '59 Custom pickup. Sold it for fianancial reasons.
