MY SQUIER VM JAGUAR ON JAY LENO LIVE AND PETE SCHMIDT BASS STRAP

Nice! So how many people came up to you after the performance to tell you that you should be using a REAL Fender?

=O

None. Actually Rickey Minor asked what kind of bass was I playing. He stated he loved the tone. Soundman also.

The Fralins are awesome. I already had a set on my P-bass, so I had a hunch they would sound great on the Jag, and they do. In my case, although there was nothing wrong with the original parts, I went a little mod crazy, as you can see. Sounds great though and feels great too.

WOW!!!! NICE!!!!

Awesome tone and such a cool groove! I have two CV Jaguars, one with a fretless neck. That's all I've been playing lately. Those basses have a great feel and you can get almost any sound you want out of them sans a Stingray.

Thanks TBers for all the positive responses. That's right hand technique is called palm muting.

Oh Ok I'm very familiar with the pick/palm muting technique (from playing guitar), but I didn't consider it really practical just using thumb/palm on the bass. I remember seeing a still of Mike Watt in that position and assuming he was slapping, but it never quite added up somehow.

It's a really subtle sound, but I like it. I lack all finesse when it come to soul. Damn, that's what happens when you grow up listening to Flea(!) :hiding:

That's really interesting. I'm going to have to look into that. Thanks.

Damn, this is inspiring. Love your playing on this.. groove and personality.

I was just noodling on the same bass at GC yesterday. The playability and pleasing tone of this Indonesian instrument made it hard to put down. I almost walked out with it but had to the old "do I really need another bass?" mind funk. Thanks the reminder that you don't need to spend much money to sound good.

Btw, it felt small, is this bass is a standard 34" scale? Also, wondering if the thin neck could handle heavier gauge flats?

What's the world coming to??!! I mean we know they make 'ok for the price' stuff, but a SQUIER on LENO???!! How'd you get into the building?? How'd your bandmates allow you to embarrass them that way??!!

Most importantly, how come no knobs fell off??!! :eyebrow:
