My Stambaugh Attitude bass build

The inlays were all the wrong size so, the fretboard had to be peeled off and started over. The new fretboard is on and will be fretted next week. Then the inlays, then to the finisher. Yeah, I haven't used both pickups in a long time. Thats why I've got a custom pickgaurd on both my attitude basses. Just the p=pickup and a volume. I own an attitude standard with a j-pickup in it and have always wished my limiteds had it. So, the new bass will. It's going to be awsome, it's just taking a long time.

What was wrong with the inlays? The size looks great in the pictures.

And one year from order to bass is not bad by any means.

It looks really cool.

The inlays were all the wrong size. They are supposed to get longer as the go up the neck. If you don't do that, the strings will "look" like that are not running straight down the neck. This is going to be my last bass. Alot of guys say that but, I've been playing these basses for 16 years so, Im pretty sure things aren't going to change. I go through tons of amps and cabs but am really faithful to my basses.

I've had my Stammy Octave-8 for 12 years now and I'm ready for another.

I had about two lbs of jade vein from cali that I've lost over the years.

After seeing your inlays, I regret losing this resource.

What kind of finish / paint job are you using for the body?

Really simple. Black gloss body, satin neck. I was going to go fancy but, this is going to be a workhorse not a show piece. It will get beat up. Should still look very sleak though.

Great idea. Having had loads of basses over the years, i'm at a point now that i know what i like and what i don't like...so i reckon a custom build is well on the cards.

I spent a couple years dreaming of doing something like this. I would've made different changes, I think, but that's what "custom" is all about.
