My Yes Concert!

I've been a Yes fan for 40 years now. I used to play in a Yes tribute band. I even got to meet Yes 10 years ago (a memorable moment for me no doubt). I have seen Yes in concert so many times that I have lost count.

There is simply no other band like Yes. IMHO, their music is on a level that is leagues above the rest of the bands on this planet. And their musicianship (technical ability) is mind boggling. I don't know of any guitarist who knows the fretboard like Steve does. Same with Chris.

Benoit is doing a good job. He's no Jon of course, but kudos to Benoit for keeping the Yes flame burning.

I caught YES this year, smaller venue,2000 seats sold out.
Still great after all these years, watched a Foo Fightesr concert on TV the next day
and couldn't believe how inferior musicianship and sound keeps them up there.
Just no comparison but thats showbiz.

I caught yes and styx together on july 19th. It was awesome. Yes is so good (even though I miss jon). Starship trooper was the best song of the night. After yes styx played, and I got depressed. Styx was very boring to me because I was still in shock from experiencing yes. The part that bothered me was most people came to see styx and they thought yes was boring. Of course come sail away doesn't get any more exciting the hundreth time

theobass416, I know exactly how you feel! Styx is great, and we even got a surprise visit from Chuck Panazzo in Atl., but the level of pure musicianship, creativity, and musical power of Yes blew Styx away for me....

Hey, listen to the new album. That should brighten your perception of an Anderson-less Yes. It's the best thing in years! I miss Jon sometimes too, but I like Benoit. You just have to let him (and the album) grow on you a bit! And to me, it feels like the first pure Yes album in a long time. By that I mean that it has a certain joy to it. There's actually fun behind the playing. You can feel that Squire, Downes, Howe, White, and David are really enjoying themselves on this album, whereas they (Squire, Howe, and White at least) all seemed a bit dead on "Magnification" and even "The Ladder" to a lesser extent.

Not trying to argue, bro. Just saying, if you let yourself have some fun with it, I think you'll really learn to like the new lineup. It's not like you're betraying Rick or Jon. They both believed in Yes without them (though neither will play material written without them :p).

Nobody was more no Jon, no Yes than I was/am but the new album is great.
Go figure.

I still miss Jon and hope he will return for the final tour. (whenever that will be)

But this new album is really pretty much the best album since GFTO.
