Mystery Train was put on the set list for a recent gig, and since its Dead/Garcia type band, I listened to the Garcia version.
Excluding the intro and starting where the lyrics come in Im counting what sounds to me like an extra two beats on the IV (A) chord before it goes back to the one chord.
Folks I gigged with played it more like a straight up 12 bar blues which really threw me off for a minute or two.
Even listening to the Elvis version it's certainly not sounding like a traditional blues to me.
