NAD: AMPEG SVT -II non pro

so i waas able to pick up this amp at my local CL. got it for $575 rack case, tuner and power conditioner included. i finally tried it today at practice and i was blown away with the tone. i didnt need my sans amp. i'm still trying to learn the amp but so far i set it flat and it sounded awesome. then i messed with the eq and was able to get good tones. the cab is now top heavy so i had it back up the wall just to be safe. this thing is heavy.

I'd be kind of paranoid that the police might show up and arrest you whenever you're randomly walking down the street, because you pretty much stole that amp. :D Nice score!

Looking back on gear I've purchased over the years and said, "Yeah, that was a smart purchase and worth every cent I spent on it," my SVT-II nonpro is pretty high on the list. I honestly believe it's one of the best bass amps ever built.

thanks man. yeah. i was pretty lucky. it was on CL for 27 days and no one bought it. it was 600 and i was able to bring it down to what i paid for. the guy said he was just done playing and dont need it. i had to finesse my way into bringing it in the house so my wife wouldn't notice hahaha. now it's in the studio, so it's safe.

Told you to jump on that, glad you got it! enjoy it! Check out the various threads on here about that amp and you'll find some threads by me and anderbass mentioning recommended updates, if you ever bring it in to a tech, make sure those get taken care of.
Anderbass has a bunch of different amps to play through (72 blue svt, Mesa 400+, Mesa d-180, and some others) and his favorite is still his svt-II!

Congratulations! I know what you mean about running yours Sans through it. I used to run a SVP-CL preamp through my SVT II but found I also just didn't need it. I set the controls at noon or slightly one way or the other on a couple of the knobs and it's perfect. I found a vintage Ampeg one button mono foot control switch that I use to control the EQ remotely.

I'm always stunned at how cheap these amps go for when I see them especially right next to SVT CL for $1,200. The fact you paid $575 for all of that gear is a steal since it really means you got the amp itself for about $450.
