NAD!! - Marshall DBS content! (Who knew?!)

I trialled and drooled over them when they came out. Expensive and topquality. Even now when people know what they have there going for good money. I brought my 2001 series marshall head to the shop trying to find cabs and the DBS cabs were just out. I tried all of them. Unfortunately the price tag prevented my young self from buying even the cheapest. Great quality for some reason they fell of the radar.....I would have bagged it at that price.

I’ve tried to find an old Marshall price guide but haven’t had any luck.

Not a big deal, but for such a solid rig with the only real downside being weight, I’m surprised that in all my years I’ve never seen one until now. We’re they overpriced?

I seem to recall not far from the three grand mark for a head and two cabs.... But don't quote me it was too long ago to remember clearly.....

@Mark Andrew & @Yorick - Yeah, at the price, even tho I’d never heard of them before, I couldn’t pass it up after a little research.

Now that I’ve had the chance to put it thru it’s paces at a few shows, I’m thrilled. Huge, full sound, and between the graphic eq & tube / solid state preamp blend, plenty of tonal diversity available. Kind of neat, a footswitch I had works, so with a tap of my foot I can switch between the 2 channels for 2 unique sounds.
Mostly, I’ve been impressed with the richness & fullness of the bottom tho; just has a richness to the tone that’s hard to explain.

However - it is HEAVY. I’ll def happily use it for certain gigs, but it’s size & weight do make it a bit much for many gigs. Still happy to have it tho, and will def use it to record, also.

Wow, you think that much? Crazy...
I haven’t been able to find a Marshall price guide, so I appreciate your input!

I am surprised that these don’t have at least a small, visible cult following for as good as they are. Incredible something top of the line like this can be all but virtually forgotten.

I used to drool over these in a music store when I was a kid but they were way out of my price range. Don’t remember cost though.

Now I have the same head you have. I bought it used from a pro bassist friend who used it for well over 500 gigs. He sold it to me because he had two of them.

He’s still uses his other one on every gig he does.

I don’t have the matching cabs unfortenately, but use it with two Trace Elliot cabs instead. Works great too.

I have used for about 1,5-2 years now in my metal band and love it. It’s loud, has a big, tight punchy sound and is probably the amp with the most and fastest dynamics I have ever played.

I just bought that on Friday it's mine. The amp needs work but it was a good deal. I'm having it worked on by a tech right now. It was working but then stopped getting input from my guitar. I'd like to find another cab to compliment it. Because I can run two cabs out of the one head without pushing it too hard right? New to me first cab/amp.

Hopefully doesn't cost me an arm and leg to have it fixed. I thought it was just the jacks but the tech took it all apart and says I have a short to the back end board somewhere.. I bought the whole setup for 500 + donated some guitar amps to his cause. School teacher wanted some small guitar amps to teach students on .. didn't need this monster setup whoever had donated it definetly used it
