NAD - Mesa Boogie M6 Carbine - Woot!

Picked up a used rack mount M6 at GC. Sounded earth-shattering through the 4x10 cab in the store.

I'm hoping the more scooped tone of the M6 will blend with the VERY mid-forward tone of the Bag End S15-D to give a more balanced tone without major sculpting.

The only thing that worries me is whether the thing will go QUIET enough - the amp was definitely ballsy, and the Bag Ends are verrrry efficient.

Taking it to an outdoor gig tomorrow (if the place doesn't get blown away in a tornado tonight) - but also taking my Aggie AG500SC as backup. We'll see how it goes...

I've ordered a new M6 and powerhouse 4x10 4 ohm for fully use of the 600 watt M6 power.
I also want a 2x10 on top of the set in some occasions.
Does the Carbine go well with the 4 ohm 410 and a 8 ohm 210?
If not, is the powerhouse 410 loud enough at 8 ohm getting 320 watt from the M6?

The M6 will run down to 2 ohms, so you can use a 4 and 8 ohms in parallel...somewhere just north of 3 ohms. Unless the cabinets are horribly inefficient (more so than any cabinet I've ever used), that M6 is STUPIDLY loud (in a good way). I could just barely crack the master volume open to about 7:30 or 8:00 for the gig last night and I worried that I was too loud. The Bag Ends are very efficient which makes a big difference, though. I wouldn't be afraid of using a single cabinet for most gigs - I just like the additional "oomph" in moving air I get from using two.

I need to get a rack to put that in...I think I also want to put a little Rane parametric EQ in there, wired into the fx loop, just to dial out boom on some stages.

And so it was...wish I had a smaller rack to load it in, but this was sitting unused, so reduce, REUSE, recycle.

Sweet baby jeebus...I just dialed in the Rane using my Alembic Epic 4 and both S15s...those Bag Ends now have some authority in the low end - they're not MASSIVE, but I dialed a little of the 4.5k spike out of them and dialed IN a bump at about 50 Hz with the HPF set at around 35 - it's sweet. I know I'm giving up some maximum volume by boosting the bottom end, but they're LOUD anyway...I don't think I'll run that hot ever. If so, I can roll out the bump and keep going up.

Still not using any of the EQ on the amp or the bass, except for the voice switch and pull deep (as shown in the picture above). I can take the master up to about 9:00 before I started worrying about the neighbors complaining (I was in the garage with the door open...)

Little bit of everything from new country to classic rock to alternative to "rock for grownups" (Steely Dan, Joe Jackson, Billy Joel, etc.)...whatever covers sound fun to play at the moment.
