NAD: Silvertone 200BXL with 2x15 + 2x12 cab!

So, like any reasonable person, I have my local Craigslist musical instruments listings on my Blackberry's shortcuts, and I check it every hour or so. The other day I found a listing for a Sears bass amp with a cab that supposedly had two 18s and two 12s. I get a hold of the guy and check it out. I like it pretty well, but the 18s were actually 15s. Oh well. I bought it, and here's a picture of it in my bass room:

Around 1970(?) a friend down the street got that BXL 200 amp and a Harmony bass guitar for christmas. We started jamming and had several bands together until about 1980. We moved and lost contact with each other until about a month ago. One of the first things I asked him was did he still have the Sears bass amp. He said no. That was a great sounding rig. Around the mid 70's he bought a Fender P bass and played through it.

That was my first "real" bass amp when I was in high school. Served me well. Took it on a band trip and smuggled several nips taped to the back wall After I blew the 15's, I made two floor monitors out of the 12's. I would give anything to have that back again!

Great amp. Used it for years. Awesome power and sound. Only drawback was every time,playing outdoors,blew speakers. Sears hated me until warranty ran out. And, funny thing is the pic of guitar shown above I used neck from and put on a popular club guitar body and that was my bass until 74 when I bought a 74 Jazz Bass. Does cab have slanted bottom back with coasters on it?

I just recently acquired one of these as well. Any idea what the cabinet is rated at or how I can find out?? The speakers are still original and I’m super curious to hear what it sounds like with other amps as well as it’s such a unique speaker configuration.

Very cool. My 1st amp was a Silvertone 150 watt (lol) into a 6x10 cab. I think all the speakers were really guitar speakers. I sure loved that thing.
