NAD: Warning, Ashdown content!

Okay, it isn't technically the new amp day anymore, but a few days later. The problem is that I can't stop playing this thing! I've played a ton of different amps, and never been able to get that perfect balance of warm and fuzzy, but not quite distorted on anything but an SVT-CL/810, and that was voiced a little differently.

I have just received an Ashdown Dual Tube Series DT550 "Spyder" from Amazon (I love that brown truck!), and am amazed by the musicality and 'touch' of it. It makes me a better player, and that's as good as it gets, as far as I'm concerned.

Nice! Ashdown has an amazing lineup of bass heads. Truly, a staggering array of killer options!

Thanks, Tom. Yes, they do! I had a heck of a time choosing the head, but in the end, went with the voicing and price point that best suited me. I've been through over a dozen heads, and never had one that spoke to me like this one does.

I own a Spyder 550 and it is a very strong sounding amp.

They no longer make that model.

After a couple of years playing through an SVT 4 Pro I'm very happily back with my old ABM 500 Evo II combo. It just sounds 'right'.

Thanks, guys. Jimmy, I'll always love the Ampeg sound, but my SVYT-7PRO let out the magic smoke, so it's time to try something else.

I have to say, Jauqo, that I think it's a shame that they discontinued this amp. The only other offerings with this voicing are all valve, and prohibitively expensive (or I'd have had one, valves sound so much better).
