Interesting review. This is a step down in power after using my mesa boogie 400+ for 25+yrs. 16 tubes in that tank. With the PF50t on my passive fretless ampeg scroll bass, the tone controls don't change the tone much and it barely distorts with gain at 100%. On my active fretless fenderstein it distorts well with the gain increase and the tone controls make more dramatic differences. My guess is because the input is being pushed harder. In my rock band I use octave and distortion pedals to fill up the band when my guitar player drops out for a solo. In my blues group I run direct. Tonight I will use the pedals to push the input harder and see what happens. The clarity of this amp is amazing especially compared to my solid state practice amp. I do love the tone!!! Has way less background noise than my boogie. Changing the bias control seems to push it harder for more grit as well. I could not tell if your basses were active or passive but that seems to make a huge difference. I would think the pf20 would be plenty for a practice amp but then again I live in a condo..lol. This weekend I will be doing a full band rehearsal and in a couple of weeks a outdoor venue with house PA and soundman. Overall it produces a very clear, clean, and musical representation of my instruments. :).
will break up sooner with less efficient cabs?

After running with a wireless and through the tuner pedal it seems to have just the right amount of buffering to make a great connection to this tube amp. Control knobs on amp have are more responsiDigging it!!
Very cool! My p bass pickup in the picture is Fender American and in the other pic is my Fender Antigua with a Lindy Fralin pu in it. It didn’t do well with either of them. I tried four different bases each with varying degrees of output the bronco being my least but it sounded the best. Not enough clear volume. I would be lucky to be heard properly over an acoustic guitar. Well they have been shipped back. A PF-50T and a 450 watt cab is on the way. One caveat is the new cab is a fliptop so I can attach the head to it! Total classic. Got my fingers crossed.
Update. After running with a wireless and through the tuner pedal it seems to have just the right amount of buffering to make a great connection to this tube amp. Control knobs on amp are more responsive. Digging it!! Man your gonna love the flip top cab....I spent 70 on a bag that is OK at best. Real test Satuday at rehearsal adding a 210 to the 15. I don't think you will regret going with the 50 and the 115. Like you said Total Classic! :)

Got it in this evening. I will test it and report back. :hyper:View attachment 4072495
Hey, Eat!
Congrats!
I can only imagine how awesome that level of rig is!
I'm sorry you weren't blown away, but really appreciate you and @coy garcia 's honest and helpful input.
I'm really glad you're doing the switch. You'll be happy you did. There's no point in being anything but thrilled.
Those pink basses are killer!
Keep us posted.

Ok! Update! If you read my previous post you know I am unhappy with the PF-20t and the 112 cab. So just got off the phone with Sweetwater. I am returning the Head and cab. A PF-50T and a 450 watt PF115 cab is on the way.
If you're looking for more low end, I think you'll like the PF115 a lot better than the 112. The PF112 is designed to rolloff much higher IIRC.
Also, if you're going to be doing any recording, make sure to try out the Transformer Out DI. Gets all the power tube goodness into your signal!
