Nady wireless system?

Last week I decided to go wireless and while I was looking around I found that Nady had several wireless instrument systems. Does anyone have any advice or previous experience with them?

Really? I'm surprised because that's what Geddy Lee uses, and I'm sure he probably likes it, since he's still using it.

I guess it depends on the 'level' of music and expectations as to the quality of Nady wireless systems. I have been using a lower end UHF Nady wireless ($180) for about 3 years now on my acoustic, playing on stage with a band and vocalist. The sound is great, as was the distance from transmitter to receiver; never had any bleed-over or distortion. The only problem I had was the connection cord from the guitar to the transmittor developed a short and I had to order a new cord. It's an older system. I am sure the newer ones are even better. Batteries last about 5-6 hours. Start with a fresh set before any show. My luck was very good. All I can remark about is my experience. Since I perform for pleasure and not money, I would not be considered a paid professional. Still I have been quite happy with the Nady.

I have an ancient Nady VHF unit and it has performed rather well.

It's band is a bit illegal one though, so I have to think twice where to use it .

Whatever You buy, check the bands first. You seem to live in some unknown location, and the legistlation and available frequencies vary, check that from the authorities.

If I was in the market for a wireless, I wouldn't consider anything but a digital system. And I live in an un-crowded area so interference isn't that much of a problem.

I have had a few Nady wireless systems over the years. Heres my take:
A. Older ones are better built than newer ones.
B. The new ones are cheap for a reason. Not road worthy at all. You will end up cutting out, or dropping off signal because of poor solder connections and other problems.
C. crappy cords
D. Getty probably gets a new one for each gig. Being Nady is paying for them.

Stay away from Nady and go Sennheiser. You won't go wrong.

I echo to stay away from Nady wireless. I bought one a few years back and it didn't even work right out of the box! And they gave a hard time returning it for credit.

No more Nady products for me! In addition, they are not 'pro' quality products, IMHO!

I have a cheap Nady DFW-1 and I find that it sounds decent if I set the trim on the transmitter right. I drop it all the time and the lid flies off on impact, but it still works fine. The receiver is really small and the 9v battery in the transmitter lasts forever. Of course, I always bring a cable as backup.

The main problem with cheaper wireless systems for basses is that they lose a lot of low end.

According to the last Bass Player article on Geddy, he was using high-end old Samson wireless units.
