Naked Stingray! (pics)

I took the pickguard off by new SR4 to polish it with plastic polish as it had some scratches. I was amazed at how gorgeous my bass is underneith the pickguard!!!

I may have to buy a clear guard. However, whn I put the polished pickguard back on, my wife commented that now it looks like a Stingray again!

And with the black guard back on:

I like it naked better. I used to do the naked thing with my Stingray, and I'd put the screws from the pickguard in to fill the wholes. It looked really cool; I can't remember why I put the pickguard back on to begin with.

It looks great either way but I think I'll be leaving the black guard on as i really like the classic look. I'll look into finding a clear lefty guard but it may not be that easy to find.

Definately a clear pickguard. That would be functional and look classy as he**.

Get a pickguard made of a multi-laminate plastic which has paper-thin stripes of black sandwiched between thicker stripes of clear. That way it will look clear from straight on, and black viewed from an angle.

I like it more with the pickguard on. I have the same finish on my stingray, with a maple neck, and I think without the guard it just doesn't look right.

I took the pick guard off my black SR4 a few months ago, it looked a bit too plain for me.
The pick guard is my favourite part of the Stingray.

Get a see through pickguard, it looks ncie without the black pickguard but those screw holes bug me.

I have to say prefer it with the pickguard. I've never liked the look of a bass with the pickguard taken off and just the screws left. It could just be me though, lots of people like it!

Keep the black pickguard. Blends perfectly with the black edges of the burst...
