NAM (Neural Amp Modeler) big thread

It's crazy that even A2 Lite is more accurate than the competitors despite its very low CPU requirements, and that A2 Full is more accurate than A1 and uses 30-40% less CPU.

I'm also very surprised to see the latest Line6 Proxy architecture falling so far behind, how can that be?
It must be biased?
Can anyone explain?

I think it's important to compare like with like.

Stadium is a new product, and proxy is an even newer feature.

NAM has been in development for years, and A2 is the second big iteration.

It would IMO be weird if the newest group of devs working on capture tech was able to catch up to a group that's been working on it for years.

To be clear, even Kemper can't keep up. And they're the OG of this concept.

So... Will L6 catch up... Yes... But in a few years. As only makes sense.

Jule Monique is one of my favorites.
Yeah, I like it too, and I think it shows the strength of NAM pretty well.

I bought Monique at a very special moment of my life, to treat myself, but I was kind of hesitant if I liked it or not: some days I thought it was subtle but great, and other days I thought it was too subtle to bother using it. I eventually sold it because it was too big to bother using it live, but I made this capture just before I sold it… in order to keep a memory of it.

To come back to your comment, I recently used it in my DAW, and honestly it felt exactly like the real thing: it is subtle but it adds a little "je ne sais quoi", not really "wow" when I add it, but once it's added I don't want to remove it…

I'll have to try again with my M-VAVE chocolate and one of my repurposed Chromebooks running Linux, provided I still remember how to boot them - should have written it on them - and see if they can run NAM2, chorus, etc and some synth sound madness

Exactly. And I think it’s also important to keep in mind where the threshold of “good enough” and “excellent” are. Most everything listed there is already established as being gig-worthy.

I see the Stratus pedal will load A2 natively. Also, Head Rush plans to do the same in their Prime, Core and Flex Prime pedals this summer.
Be careful with the Stratus: before adding support for NAM, it was mainly a "AI effect" pedal that has a very bad reputation you type a prompt to describe the effect you want and get some random effect, the free tokens are eaten very quickly and then you have to buy extra tokens. Not my stuff.

A lot of pedal will offer NAM A2 compatibility. I'll wait a little bit until I find the one that matches my needs perfectly.

I tried the official plugin on Windows. Seemed to have some odd resonances. I tried the unofficial LV2 plug in on Linux -flawless.

A slight caveat is that my interface has an internal mixer. I've updated Linux and it wiped out the udev script that sets the mixer to sensible values. I'll need to fix it. But I'll have to also check that Windows hasn't also messed with the internal mixer.

I tried various Trace Elliot, Ampeg, Fender and Acoustic models - all great. I'll try my own Boss OD-2 model later.
