Name a band that NO ONE likes...

You guys don't seem to get the question because most of the bands mentioned so far have huge fan-bases. I honestly can't think of a band that's legitimately hated by all.

Edit: Brokencyde is probably the closest thing I can think of. They consistently have poorly rated albums. They still have a decent fan-base though.

The Shaggs fit into a weird category, also amplified by the internet, of "bad bands that are ironically liked".

I don't hate on the Shaggs because when you read their story it's kind of sad what their dad put those girls through, and the fact that at least one of them is still at it is kind of uplifting.

I think it's important to establish the criteria here. One must be successful enough to get noticed and have a career and yet still not have any fan base that seems to exist (or at least anyone that will admit to it). Rebecca Black doesn't really count because she's just a teenager whose parents paid for her to have a music video. It's not like she really had anything to do with that awesomely terrible song/video (love the part where sings about which seat she should take in the car).

There are three categories of successful but terrible bands:

1- The flash in the pan: This is the band who is linked with a definite period in time. They had more than one hit and maybe even a few successful albums. But then times change, people wake up from their fever dream and ask"Why are we listening to this?" This is the realm of Hootie, Nickleback and LimpBizkit

2- The minor band that just won't die: they have a couple of minor hits or maybe even a huge one but no one really thinks much of them despite it and they just sort of linger on as a band that everyone sort of jokes about (examples: SugarRay, Goo Goo Dolls)

3- One hit wonders or gimmicky bands (Bobby McFerrin, Falcor, Captain and Tenille)

4- Terrible bands that people actually like. These are the bands that other people in your life love but you don't see the attraction. (examples: Phish, Kiss, any band that uses a resonator guitar)

I think it's really important to limit it to just 1-3.

So far the clear contenders are:

Nickleback
Sugar Ray
Insane Clown Posse

Unfortunately there are hundreds of bands that followed their overly sappy future supermarket music formula, like Imagine Dragons, X Ambassadors, and American Authors.

I actually liked Imagine Dragons first album, but that most recent one was total garbage. It was like he wrote the songs while standing at the counter while the coffee maker brewed. I can see it now (writes the word "Thunder"...looks at the coffee drip...looks at the paper...writes "Feel the Thunder" and "7x" declares the song to be done while he pours a cup. )

Still, "My Pal Foot Foot" is the WORST earworm in the history of earworms.

After Thriller and the white glove became old news, I can think of tons of folks that liked his music but can't really think of anyone that loved his music or that were bonafide fanz

Wow that is pretty bad. But TBH that's how a lot of hip hop sounds these days. That's just especially bad in so many ways.

Michael Jackson is an interesting case. When I was in like 2nd grade he was huge with Thriller and all, but by 4th grade everyone was like eww he's lame. Then came all the weird stories and then everyone kind of felt sorry for him. Until more stories came out.

Can't really consider him though. If "don't stop tell you get enough" doesn't make you want to dance then nothing will.
