Not a fan of his tone. A jazz bass played with a pick into a bunch of fuzzed out Sunn heads? Not my ideal setup.

There weren't a whole lot of choices in powerful amps back then for bassists.I think he was just trying to keep up.

That said,I don't dig the pick thing and I think Jimi could have easily found a better bassist.And he did.
