Can anyone ID McCartney's bass in this video from the 70s?...It can be seen best at 2:25 on.

I think the headstock has either a big H or a K on it.

You are correct about the "K". It is in fact a Kay K5970 Jazz Special. It's the original version of this reissue:

Here is the only demo I've ever been able to find of the reissue. Sounds pretty nice as far as I can tell. I just dislike that it's made in China.

Unless it is vastly improved, since the 60's. I had a Kay guitar in 1967 and it was Shyte. Of course, even back then, it was $150.00 a fortune , but half as much as a new Strat back then.

Turns out they are custom made for Kay in the U.S. by these guys:The Fritz Brothers...in California.

"Walter" (Walter White,I say,see Breaking Bad)...is the Kay Jazz Special reissue for about $840.

The $3,600 one is a whole other beast, Fritz Brothers call the F.B. bass...Maybe F.B. stands for their name, or maybe it stands for Fat Bastard....I hope it does.

They make a guitar named Rat Bastard.
