Name that interval

Thought this might be cool for those struggling to recognize intervals by ear (like me). Name a song where the first two notes correspond to the major intervals. It can also be first notes of the song's hook. I'll start.

major 2nd: Happy Birthday
major 3rd: When the Saints Go Marching In
4th: Amazing Graze
5th: Superman Theme
6th: NBC chimes
7th: Take on me, Aha
Octave: Somewhere Over the Rainbow

And just for kicks...minor second: Jaws

Got the idea from scottsbasslessons...that dude is cool.

Those are all intervals going up. Here's a few going down:
-Minor 2nd - Beetoven's "Fur Elise"
-Major 2nd - "3 Blind Mice"
-Minor 3d - Cream's "Spoonful"
-Major 3rd - doorbell chime "ding dong"
-Perfect 4th - "I've Been Working on the Railroad"
-Tritones just sound like tritones to me, but "the Siiiiiiimp-sooooons" is a tritone up
-Perfect 5th - "Flinstones"
-Minor 6th - Sorry don't have one for that off the top of my head
-Major 6th - "Nobody Knows, the Trouble I've Seen"
Can't think of any for the 7ths, but that should help you out some!

Oh, and a minor 3rd up is "Lullaby"

He is cool. Do you know why he wears the glove? Someone on YouTube said the info was on his site but I couldn't find it and I'm just plain curious. Thanks

Invalid Link Removed is a good place to start, but nowhere near definitive. Something you know well is better than any of the usual tunes you see listed.

Few extra to note:
P4 ascending - auld lang syne
m6 ascending - 3rd and fourth note to 'the entertainer'
P4 Descending - A Team theme

Clever. Very practical as well.

Anything that helps strengthen the correlation between notation/theory and actual sounds is a good thing... :cool:

We had song to find interval like that in my first ear training book ... this is at college level music degree !!!

It just help at first and in our case it was monstly classical music theme or movie theme. Like for an ascending minor 7 it was the Darth Vader theme hahaha
