Name this bass

Anyone know what kinda bass this is..? obviously a pic from the early 60s, the band is Neil Ford and the Fanatics

Hofner Verithin is my guess but defo not certain.

Looks like it only has one pickup? but maybe thats the mic stand in the photo. kinda looks like a Guild Starfire but not sure those were even around then

The first bass I started learning to play on was a Verithin and that was red with white binding.

very cool, I had never heard of that. I think the neck is different tho than the one in the pic. here's one of those Verithins on reverb, super sweet but hella pricey...: 1964 Hofner Verithin Bass *Vintage* | Guncotton Guitars

Yeah a buddy of mine showed me the ropes on one of these circa 1977, that's when I first started learning to play. He,d learn,t acoustic guitar at school but started bass as a local band needed one. He bought a new p bass. A couple of years later I bought a Ric 4001 after a couple of Japanese copies.

Guild Starfires were around in the 60's. That was my first thought.

Yes I've seen em on eBay for about 600 quid. The one your,e asking about ain't a Verithin though as the horns are too prominent. I think the Verithin was described as bunny ears.

Based largely on the cutaway horns and the unbound f-holes, I'm gonna say Hagstrom Concord.

I’d say Guild Starfire. The pickup placement, the f-holes....seems like a Guild.

Hard to tell from the pic. But if OP's bass has a bound fingerboard then it isn't a Guild.

It looks like that may be string glare or something. The FB looks bound, but I think it’s an optical illusion.
