NAMM

ok, so i'll actually be able to go to NAMM if i'm ever so inclined (read: done with school) and it got me wondering. Can anyone off the street go or do you have to be in some way affiliated with a company to get a pass? the website seemed a bit confusing.

You need to be a member of NAMM (a dues paying manufacturer, rep, member of the press, or dealer), or to be the guest or employee of someone who is. Then you need photo ID that matches your badge, so you can't just borrow someone else's badge. NAMM members get a limited allotment of badges, not sure of the mechanics of that.

I went last year as the guest of a speaker manufacturer. Not sure if I'm going this year or not. I waited until less than a week before the show to pull it together last year.

well thats something i didnt know. theres no way i'd be able to get in for it this year. but i think i'll have to see who i know (who am i kidding, i know who i could get in with, probably just offer my help to schlep the gear in and pay my own way out there)

and whats the rundown of what happens at NAMM, is it all looking no touching? do the manufacturers let people come up and give it a go on the gear?
