If any dads here have purchased Nanoblock Legos for their kids to enjoy Christmas morning.... Fair warning. Throw them out now...... These are the most cruel, mind bending "craft" ever created. The blasted little parts are too small for human hands... Ok, Ok.... Settle my frazzled nerves.....

My boys best daycare buddy gives him a Lego Nanoblock motorcycle kit at school today and will I assemble it for him??.. Mind you I have built a Harley ground up that was easier than this. Started at noon... Three hours in the frame and engine are assembled and I am seriously considering revisiting my heavy drinking days... By five pm the rear tire assembly is done. Snap them together and disaster ensues and it fell back into pieces. Recover from that. Get the rear assembly successfully attached and I am feeling proud. At 7:15 the exhaust assembly causes the next catastrophe. The lovely partially assembled scooter is again a pile of nano-insanity.. Kid is crying. I am shaking. Put it all back in the box to give to someone I don't like.

Seven hours I invested in this mind bending affair only to end up with a pile of half assembled pieces.... if you got one to surprise your kids with Monday..... Lose it.... Rapidly... You have been warned.

I thought the fun of those was the kids assembling them for themselves. Their fingers are small enough & their vision is also good enough.

There might be some parents considering not gifts, but adopting services, this monday, so perhaps it's not for ecerybody, but don't claim it doesn't have its uses.

I hate all Lego kits. The idea of Legos is to use your imagination to design and build something (then rinse and repeat at will), not use specialized pieces to build something that only kinda looks like what it is supposed to be (and since the pieces are so specialized, you can't use them for other projects). When forced to build these, I used CNA glue so once the pieces were together, they stayed that way.

The idea of Legos is to use your imagination to design and build something (then rinse and repeat at will), not use specialized pieces to build something that only kinda looks like what it is supposed to be (and since the pieces are so specialized, you can't use them for other projects). When forced to build these, I used CNA glue so once the pieces were together, they stayed that way.

My kids always wind up getting these elaborate Lego kits (right now, my six-year-old is building an 800-piece robot set), but after they have completed them and played with them for a while, they just wind up dumping the pieces into the giant, co-mingled box where they are infinitely recombined into hundreds of different imaginary creations. I truly believe that the older we get, the possibilities we see with Legos begins to fade, even if we remain creative in other areas. My kids make all sorts of brilliant creations out of Legos and all I can do is make a couple of little goofy cars when I sit down to do it.

Good for them - not enough kids with great imaginations. Now that my kid is grown, the Legos don't come out much, but I enjoy them. Last year I made a two foot high lighthouse that almost looked like... a lighthouse.
