Nash 57 P Bass neck question

went to see a 57 Nash P bass today, it’s a good price, the only thing is the neck has a skunk stripe? I did not think they were introduced that early also there is neck dive going on and the bass weighs a fraction under 9lbs. I get the feeling the neck has been replaced?
Also no name on head stock.
Price is $1300
Any ideas? Or did he used to build them with this setup?
Cheers.

I have a 57 Nash P bass. There's no neck dive thing. It weighs about 9 lbs.
As far as I know, Nash PB-57 doesn't have a skunk line on the backside of its neck and mine doesn't either.
There's Nashguitar decal on the front side of headstock but it can be easily removed or replaced.

But every Bill Nash's guitar has hand-written thing on their head stock.
If it's an original neck, you can find them easily.

It's my Nash PB-57 produced in 2012

Warwickorrior is spot-on about Nash signing the headstock of every guitar the company makes; my Nash PB-57, made in 2007 is signed, but on the back of the ball, and every Nash I've seen in guitar shops has been signed.

I'm in the 11th year of owning my PB-57 and have nothing but praise for the instrument. It was my go-to bass since they day I bought it, and was only put aside when I bought a 1967 Fender Precision a few years ago. The Nash bass easily compares to my 1987 Musicman Stringray in terms of quality of build and overall stability of the neck.

The price you quoted, $1,300, seems reasonable, since I paid more than that for my bass back in 2009.
