NATF - Cocaine cover - awesome bass solo

That was pretty good. I think some bands take into consideration the greatness of bands they cover when they decide to do covers. My band was once pushed to second place in a Battle of the Bands by a band who played a Sublime cover.
Anyway, both of those solos were decent but I get the feeling sometimes that a lot of bass players fell like a solo is no good unless its played really high and really fast.

I don't know what NATF stands for, I just ran across this sort of randomly. I was just impressed with the bass player because it was a trio (instrument wise) and I'm in a trio and not even remotely close to being able to do anything like that yet.
Yeah they were good for sure. I was just giving my review, I don't want to sound like I think they suck or anything.
I didn't get that impression. It does motivate me to at least learn ONE solo though
That was a hot performance. I enjoyed the guitar player quoting "Birdland" during his solo. I thought the bass player was very good, but he came close to overplaying a few time, IMO. They are a band of great young players, they sound young in their energy and readiness to show their chops too. They will likely edit their playing more as they get older.
I never said they were bad players or the song was bad. I said the bassist played a few too many notes in some spots. It doesn't mean that it wasn't a good performance.
Sorry I didn't take it that way and should rephrase it. How does playing too many notes in some spots change the dynamics? I'll never be accused of overplaying thats for sure since I'm not at that level but I'm interested to know because I'm looking at him and saying wow I hope I can get there someday.

Just trying to learn here. Where does the guitarist comp for the bassist?
Listen to the bass solo. Didja hear the guitarist playing chords? Notice how the chords have nothing to do with the song? However, could you imagine how boring the bass solo might be (or at least a lot less cool) WITHOUT those chords?
There's a YouTube video of my cover band playing BrickHouse out there, and my guitarist does a similar thing during my bass solo (all BassBallsed out and such). It helps a LOT.

Ah I see what you're saying. I checked out your video too, awesome!
After relistening, it doesn't sound like the bassist overplayed very much at all. Only at the 4:00 mark does he through in some harmonics that go against the groove.
