I played around the first SB2 BEF yesterday. Perhaps the most innovative thing is the distortion. There are 8 flavors of distortion that can be added to any of the filters, including bit crushing. I heard lots of sounds I have never heard before.

Octave Down -> Filter -> BitCrusher = instant gutteral vowel sounds. Fun stuff.
