NBA Playoff thread 2012

Too me, no team in history was less deserving of an NBA title than that 2006 Heat team.

......

Granted the alternative Dallas Mavericks choked. But the fact is Wade flopped and Shaquel offensive fouled their way to an NBA title.

ESPN records said:
"Wade shot a whopping 97 free throws in the six games -- the most of any player since the merger -- including 25 in Game 5."

Yes to all of the above, except that ESPN voted Wade as the NBA finals' all time top performer for this performance. I would have voted that same performance as the most disgusting display of flopping I've ever witnessed at any level, and the biggest fold by the Mavericks.

well... i have a confession to make

i am not really an NBA fan, don't consider it real basketball... although the players are incredibly talented.

having said that, i am a closet Celtics fan and as such, i consider it my patriotic duty to pull FOR the Celtics and AGAINST the Lakers.

We won a double header tonight...Celtics absolutely demolished the Sixers and OK stole one against the Lakers

3 pages in and I've yet to see any love for my Clippers? I've seen a few pulling for the 76ers and Pacers but none for the Clippers, really? Might come off as a bias but we are contenders. Hell if it wasn't for Artest elbowing Harden, making OKC lose 2 of there last 4 games it would be OKC with the 1 seed facing my Clippers. A team we handled with no problem in the regular season. I will admit I think both LA teams are outmatched, but I still give the Clippers more of a chance upsetting the Spurs then the Lakers on OKC.

We've shown some love. I'm still more of a Lakers fan. Not sure why, but I am. I think it's one of those stupid thick and thin things. :p

Oh no good sir. Quite the contrary. I have won many a beer rooting for the lakers. Speaking of which perhaps I should do an honorary bump of the last wager in which there are a few people that still haven't paid up.

STILL??? Jesus that's a joke. Why bet if you can't (or worse: won't) pay up??? I've sent you AND Gard beer on lost bets, and would never screw you guys over.

We should start a thread on the TB weasel crew. We just need to inlcude kserg because he hasn't paid off our bet and it's been over five years now! :scowl:

Yeah seriously. I would have gladly continued the tradition this year (and probably lost my shirt), but after having most people NOT paying up, I said f it. I really do appreciate the fact that you guys actually honor your bets.

Meanwhile, the Lakers continue to get their @$$ handed to them.

:hiding:

I love watching the Lakers get spanked. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy like.

Me too. Just can't get excited about any of their recent (i.e., last 12 years) successes. So I was dancing about the living room gleefully at the conclusion of last night's game.

And speaking of last night: Does anyone *not* think the ball should have been in Kobe Bryant's hands in that last 0.3 seconds rather than Steve Blake's? iow, did they execute a clever play that no one was expecting and simply failed to put the ball in the hoop...or did World Peace make an idiotic decision when distributing the ball?

I wonder too if the play was SUPPOSED to be for Blake. Perfect play execution if so, but a bad idea even if he does make it.

And what's with Bynum just kind of giving up on the ACTUAL last play of the game? Why didn't he climb all over the back of Harden for a chance at a tip in? Who cares if you get a n offensive foul? The game is over either way. Lakers look out of focus, even if they hang around/lead up to the end.

I heard on the radio that it was drawn up for Kobe, but it ended up being too drawn-out and complicated to try and get it to him. So Ron Ron made the right "basketball" play and passed it to Blake, who was uncovered. I didn't see the game myself, though

Clippers have fans? I thought it was only Billy Crystal.

I like the Clippers; it's been exiting to watch them play this year. If I have to choose, though, I guess I'd have to say that I'm a Laker fan.

There is a HUGE Clipper fan that comes and buys things at my job a couple of times a week. This season, he has been alternating from jumping up and down in joy on his way in to drowning in tears and whiskey and not leaving the house. :D
