:hyper: New Blue Bongo Bass Day. :hyper:

Well, technically, the day was Thursday... approximate time of arrival 6PM. I didn't get the box open till midnite. Friday afternoon it went through a little reconstructive surgery (straplocks and D tuner), Friday night it had it's first orignal gig, last night it's first party gig. I'm head over heels in love with this bass. I played Bongos for for about 3 years straight, then got away from them for a handful of reasons. Mostly cuz I stopped playing 5s and had gotten rid of my 4 a long time ago. Anyhow, I immediately felt completely at home. Felt like I was hangin with a friend I hadn't talked to in a years, and we picked up right where we left off. Nothing had changed.

I've really come to like the single coils on MM basses. It was a little hard to tame my HH bongos. Last night's party gig we did some jazzy stuff, and some 50s rockabilly type tunes. I feel it was a lot easier to dial in appropriate tones with this than with the HH. Even used the neck pickup soloed, which is something I never used to do with the HH bongos.

Anyhoo... this bass is frikken beautiful. The color can't be done justice in pix. Looks entirely different under different lighting. Can go from a deep blue, to an almost sparkle white... loving this bass, bigtime. Something about the blue neck too that's really cool to look at while I'm playing. I don't believe I own another bass who's neck doesn't just look like wood. :)

Hope to get some better pix. Trying to find the right pose, and right lighting. Tough in my apt, with a cheap camera though.

absolutely gorgeous Bongo!! LOVE that finish - imho that blue and the tangerine pearl are killer match for the Bongo look and vibe...

when you play a Bongo after a break away from them...they really do just 'sit' like nothing else...like your friend analogy or a perfect fitting shoe..'just right'
