It does make me a bit nervous to take an old ply out and gig with it as much as I do, but with a good padded case and some bumpers, it should be up to the task. It made it this far, right?

It sure did! These basses are made for rough gigs and great stories. I’ve put multiple hundreds of gigs on my ‘39 American Standards and ‘54 Kay. Think of them like old classic pickup trucks - they’re super cool, and definitely vintage, but a truck has a bed for a reason! Lololol

That - IMO - is key. There's one price, out the door from a quality shop that stands behind their work. And then there's asking price for a pig in a poke...
