Never thought I’d get one of these but an opportunity came up. My thought was I would just try it out and see if I like it, but I had heard mixed opinions on the early 50s precision.

This isn’t fully original as it had a neck repair and respray in the early 60s done by fender. The body was also refinished by Joe Riggio (looks pretty awesome) and lastly the pickup is a Seymour Duncan Antiquity.

Well. I plugged it in and it just sounded so smooth with the tone rolled back a touch. I couldn’t believe the sound of this little pickup. I need to get some labella’s on it now.

Anyway. I decided I’d be much happier if I bought it.

These are the stock photos from Folkway.

The best NBD TB share on early 2026 !

Wow! Once in the long ago,I had the opportunity to purchase a 1951, a 1956, and a 1959 Fender Precision I only had enough cash as a college student to buy the 59 which I still have. I don;t think ther were that many “Precision Basses” built in 1952, but fortunately people took care of them and they’re simple enough builds that repairs are pretty straightforward.

What you now own is by all accounts the first successful production electric bass. That’s quite an amazing find.
