This was the last bass on my GAS list that I haven't owned. Finally found one here on TB. Beautiful, all original 68 Rick 4005. I strung it w/ TI flats, and it was good to go! Neck is straight all the way up. It was much more resonant than I was expecting. It's a real treat to play unplugged.
Anyways, enough with the words...Bring on the pics!

As a Stone Roses/Mani fan... very awesome!
  4. Nice. Check that checkered binding out. They seriously don't make 'em like that anymore. And, it's a damn shame, too.

    Speaking of checkered binding

  6. Beautiful. I just don't understand why a company would drop such a cool & recognizable feature. Oh, I forgot..... The almighty dollar.

They never sold well when they were actively making them, so yeah, almighty dollar it is.

Amazingly beautiful bass! Back in '71 when I was a kid and taking lessons at a local music store there was a used one hanging on the wall for sale. The guy behind the counter talked me out of it, been wanting one ever since!

Excellent!! I've got a '68 4001 that I've brought back to life, and it's one of my absolute favorites! Big congrats, you have some of the best vintage basses I've ever seen!

Ugh, this is such a gorgeous bass. Why is it that Rickenbacker doesn't bother reissue some of their coolest basses? (4005, 3000, 3001) I know they are all made here in the us, but it's not like they can't expand their factories and then make a wider selection of instruments. Oh well, I guess I can live through the acquisitions of others. Congrats! You are a lucky man
