NBD: 1986 Peavey Patriot

At last Guitar Center had something in store that I actually wanted to buy! Got this beauty for $180 with the case! It plays great and sounds great. It was a little dirty but nothing major at all. It is pretty pristine. I cleaned and polished the frets and hardware. I also added some Howard's Feed-N-Wax to the natural Mahogany body because it was pretty dry.

The neck on this thing is great and I love the finish and quality of the whole bass. It is pretty light for a Peavey (a little over 8lbs) but feels very solid. Can't beat that Made in USA Peavey construction.

The Super Ferrite pickup has become one of my favorite pickups and can now hear why everyone likes them so much. Granted they are a little noisy but nothing major. When I first plugged this bass in to test it I was surprised how aggressive it was despite having some old dirty and dead strings!

Oh, wow, that is sweet! I like the super ferrite sound, but I don't like the dorky pickup surround they used when they put them on the diagonal. That's a beauty!

That's in amazing condition, nice score!! I had an ash version from 1985, but it was not nearly as clean as yours.

It is indeed easy on the eyes but also on my shoulders! That was the first thing I noticed was how incredibly light it was. I don't mind a heavy instrument but I also don't mind a lighter one

Thanks! It's as if somebody bought it, played it a couple times, then stored it away in its case for 30 years.

Oh man that's one beautiful bass, cleanest and most perserved Patriot I have ever seen, and that case is really something. Mine is good condition bat not like yours and my case have striped down everything to plastic. But I like that bass to death and it's my main player. Enjoy it!

How's the sound with that pickup placement? It looks kind of Music-manny, which with the SF seems like it could be a really cool combo...warm with nice mids? I really dig that bass.
