It has amazing mids. It's like all mids. It doesn't have as much low end as a music man would though. Also when I play this I don't think of a nice warm bass (not a bad thing IMO). It's an aggressive beast that barks at you and is hard to tame. Even with the tone knob down its still pretty aggressive.

But that's why I like it. :bassist:

It did well at band practice last Sunday and had no problem cutting through.

davegt666 Acctually it's pretty warm sounding bass, sure it's very agressive but that doesen't mean it's not warm.

Sound is warm, agressive with very strong mids and crunchy top end with little bit of low end. Like cross between P bass bark, Rickenbacker growl and jazz bass character.

If it's old (90s&earlier, certainly), it's US made, not sure when they started offshoring, though, I thought that was more recent. Anyone know for sure?

Yea it's got the smaller headstock logo like the OPs Patriot. Not that awful 90s over seas block lettering. I believe the split P pickup on those is a giveaway of USA made as well. Which it also has. Unfortunately the GC used page pic of it is too small to tell besides some of the obvious giveaways.

Everyone seems to have a different way of describing things. What you said perfectly describes the patriot tone but that to me isn't what a "warm" bass sounds like. :)

To me a warm bass sound is a p bass with old rounds or flats and with the tone knob rolled down a bit. The patriot does not sound like this to me.

However it is not aggressive like say a bass with hot active pickups with a sharp high end. The patriot sound is more subdued than that so I guess that is why you would call it some what warm.

I've heard SF pickups called p basses pickups on steroids and that its pretty true of the tone as well.

This is all just one mans opinion though so carry on. :smug:
