I was really nervous about trading my Fender Custom Shop Jazz for this, but it definitely worked out. I love this thing!

Vintage 1990 Sadowsky Jazz. Just 7.2 lbs!

I thought about that recently... how there are some components, be it a wood or a pickup brand, that lots of folks seem to hate on... yet they can be one builder's regular staple ingredient.

Examples... pau ferro (a lovely wood) seems to get bashed a lot these days as it's branded as a rosewood alternative, like it's a lesser plan B. Meanwhile, a great company like Spector has used it for years and everyone seems to love it on their basses.

Or... EMG pickups (which are often called "sterile") but again, Spector and Carl Thompson have leaned on them for decades.

So many people say Bartolini pickups are "muddy" yet they've the main pickups in Tobias, MTD and Pedulla basses for years.

Gotta get out there and let your own fingers and ears decide if something is right for you.

What a great score! Those older Sadowskys are awesome.

I've never understood the dislike for Pau Ferro/Morado. Its my first choice when I've ordered basses. Its harder than rosewood, and has a very clear yet warm sound.

I'm one of those intense Pau Ferro dislikers - but maybe that should be qualified. I really dislike the PF I have seen used on recent Fender basses. This piece of PF on this bass looks awesome! Doesn't have the yucky dry look I've seen on recent Fender basses and the level of contrast in the coloration is beautiful.
