SWEEEET!!!! Congrats!!View attachment 522893 View attachment 522895
Just got this sweet bass!! I'm very happy. I've always loved the Daphne blue vintage color. I took off the covers and swapped the white pick guard with a tort one. Plays and sounds wonderful!!
Man, I hate when that happens! Usually kick myself later.Beautiful bass, I had a shot at one of those the Fender rep brought it in to the HOG. I passed in a unusaul fit of self control.
Someone very recently had a shell pink Custom Shop 64 Jazz in the classifieds here for a while and kept price dropping to a near giveaway (for a CS). Why not see if it's still there?Patiently awaiting a shell pink or surf green one, blue is cool but not for me.
I did order one 'cause I have developped a Daphne Blue addiction that can't otherwise be cured.
I had to order it from the Netherlands, 'cause here in Germany there aren't any left. Thomann had some, but they are sold and the webpage said they couldn't be ordered. On the Fender page they were never offered in this colour. I heard that only 50 were made for the european market.
But I kind of have the impression that there was a limited run for the US too, cause so many shops in the US offer them.
Now I sit here and wait since two days and it's already in my city but this f**ktards from DPD can't deliver it...
But that's another story...
Meanwhile I stare at yours...
I belong to the white or mint pickguard-party! But I can somehow accept to live in a world, where some people put turtoise pickguards on daphne blue basses (shudder!!!!)

Hey, Greek here!Don't tell anyone, but I even considered a P-Bass in "Faded Sonic Blue" for a while in case the Daphne Blue would be out of touch for me...
You have to make decisions in life.
I kind of don't get that Daphne Blue thing anyway. Anyone here who is into greek mythology? That Daphne-thing (with Eros and Apollo involved) would rather let me think of green instead of blue, but who cares anyway. Do Americans believe "laurels wreath" are blue?
Maybe the greeks used nitro that changed under UV-light? Who knows?
Waisting time,
Dirk

Hey, Greek here!True, "Δάφνη" (Daphne) or Laurus Nobilis is a pretty green plant. It would definitely make sense to have a Daphne Green instead of Daphne Blue. Moreover, in ancient Greece it was a sacred plant devoted to god Apollo and a symbol of victory and honour, or highest status - so Daphne Blue may be well this, a "Noble Blue".
