NBD - a dedicated fretless Jazz V - (another Squier...)

Yep, it seems that I have yet again obtained another Squier Affinity Jazz V.
Long story short - the neck came from the Black Affinity I have; one with a MM bridge pickup and VMJV maple/blocked neck. The body came from The Stratosphere. It was a bit pricey, especially after shipping, but it is really pretty.
I defretted the neck some time last year and I was going back and forth between it and the blocked neck on the black body, and I got tired of doing it so I decided I “needed” another body. I wound up painting the headstock black to match that body. Looks good with this Sunburst, too. I’m glad I didn’t sand it off.
The pickups are Fender Marcus Miller Jazz V’s which I just bought from @Geri O . I have found that these sound awesome and the pole pieces have a radius to their positioning, which I really wish more manufacturers did with theirs. Great midrange and growl.
Unfortunately, in typical Squier fashion, the bridge is off center towards the G-side by about 1/16”. Not too big a deal, but enough to annoy me. I will take care of that one day...

I was all ready to take the bridge off and reposition it...but then noticed that the neck pocket had much more gap in it than most new basses do. Loosened strings, reposition neck, tune up...all straight and in line = more playing time!

BOOM!

Glad those pups worked out. I don’t doubt that bass sounds great.

Take care,
G

I’m considering getting a Warmoth STD Jazz V fretless neck for this bass; Roasted Maple shaft, Pau Ferro fingerboard. The neck would cost me about $300 shipped ($275 + shipping).
The Squier neck is a little soft and I would really like an in-lined board.
I am wondering if it’s worth it...
What are your thoughts?
Will it play that much better?
