NBD: A Warmoth P-Bass Build

I just finished up a very pretty (imo) Warmoth P-Bass build. I have to confess that I have probably owned about 10 basses or so, and only my first was a P. In fact, at the time I was probably 12 and didn't even know what a Precision bass was. And so recently I decided to procure another, figuring at some point that I should learn to appreciate what the hype is all about. So here she is, after a few hiccups and learning experiences!

The body and neck are from Warmoth. The matte black finish looks really good, super happy with how it turned out. I wish I would have used a jazz neck instead of a p-bass neck, but that's okay. Wenge neck /Wenge FB never disappoints, at least to me. Hipshot USA Ultralights, Hipshot Xtender, and a Hipshot string retainer. Pickups are EMG PAX run at 18V, Warmoth routed the battery box holder on the back, making it much easier for me. Bridge is the KSM Foundation, which I absolutely love.

If anyone has any questions about what it takes to build a Warmoth bass, feel free to ask away! I didn't find as much detailed information as I would have thought when I needed it, and I definitely did some learning. Not as much as I thought, though. :D

Beauty! I've been debating a Warmoth P (5 string) for a long time, but they don't have a body for that with a pick guard, which throws off the aesthetic I'm going for, which is pretty off-topic come to think of it.

Anyways, I may copy the wenge fingerboard, that's killer.

Yeah thanks, me too! I have markers on the side, but I really wanted a clean, classic look.

I'm pretty surprised they don't have a 5-string p-bass pickguard, that's weird. I am guessing you could pretty easily pick up a 5-string p-bass pickguard from somewhere else and drill the corresponding holes yourself if you wanted. That's no big deal as long as it fits on the body the way you'd need.

How do you like the pax? I’ve been interested in that pickup but there’s no good demos.
