I wasn't looking for a new bass, in fact I was looking to get rid of one, but someone offered to trade this bass for the one I was getting rid of. So, I took the chance.
I was hesitant to take this bass on because of two big reasons. 1) it's a 6string bass! I've never played a 6 I liked and usually immediately put them down at GC. 2) it's an Adler. Who's ever heard of an Adler bass!?!
After a bunch of interneting I found what few references there are to Adler basses. The consensus is that Adler basses are top quality and scarce because the maker quit making basses so early in his career.
It arrived in the mail today. It's a gorgeous bass! Finish is perfect (for a 10-15 year old bass). Some dings here and there, but all on the places you'd expect. Tone is wonderful. Has Barts and an Aguilar obp3 preamp. The necks however is the most confusing. It's equally this thinnest and fastest neck I've ever touched, and the widest plank. It's more likely to be found at home Depot than GC.
So, I'm perplexed. I'm going to give it a run, but my dainty hands may not be man enough to traverse the fretboard. If I can't get used to it, you may be seeing it for sale/trade.
Either way, enjoy the pics of this rare bird.
