After talking with a local Fender shop and finding out that they can no longer get a 2012 American Standard Precision V in Candy Cola because it has been discontinued, they suggested trying Sam Ash. I explained what I went through before ordering online (hthttp://www.talkbass.com/forum/f8/nbd-am-stnd-precision-v-pics-initial-review-958177/tp://) and they told me Sam Ash is pretty good to deal with. So I took the chance. They only had one left in the Candy Cola. I received it today and I'm glad to say I believe I made the right choice.
The people I dealt with at Sam Ash were great. I told them about my past ordeal and they assured me that I could return it for any reason and there would absolutely be no re-stocking fee.
It's been pretty cold outside so after letting the bass sit in the box for about 15 minutes, then the closed case for 15 minutes more, then in the opened case for another 15 minutes, I finally picked it up, gave it a good looking over and then played it for about 30 minutes. The action is low, the sound is great, fit & finish is excellent. Intonation is a little sharp on the A, E and B strings, but there is plenty of room for adjustments. I'll get to that tomorrow when I get the White Pearloid pg that I putting on it.
Oh yeah, this time no swicth. It is a 2012 model, but I did pay $50 more, $1,149.99.
