Finally scored my first American made P Bass. It’s a 2024 American Pro 2. The previous owner had it setup at Mike Lull’s.

They put in a “Precision 90” pickup from Lollar. I can’t say enough about how much I like this pickup. It’s a very accurate representation of the natural sound of the bass, with an added emphasis on this mids. The CLARITY is just incredible. Not too much sizzle or bite. Just clean and crisp with a little extra punch.

I know that fender quality control is a hotly contested topic. But this particular bass is what I would expect for the price. No problems. I was happy with $1,250.

I put some sunbeams on it and I’m happy as a clam.

Lovely bass. Congrats.

American made Fender is the way to go.

The Lollar thing has me wondering about my stock Precision V and thinking "what if".

FWIW: While I'm a big fan of DR Sunbeams and Nickel Low Riders, I have Cobalt Flats on both my Precision V and Dimension Deluxe 5. It's been about 5 years and I'm still liking the tone from both.

Good to know about the strings. I’ve tried a few but will check out the others.

And you won’t regret upgrading to the Lollars. You’ll notice a difference right away

Regarding the string conversation… I love the low tension and playing feel of the DR Sunbeams. And the have a great mid quality. Some nickels are a little too strong in the 200 range on a p bass for me. These are a little less muddy in that range but still warm.
