NBD - AVRI 63 Precision - Sonic Blue

IMG-4390.jpg

In a different light today - with a bit of color saturation. It's truly sublime.

Yea it forces you to play right in that spot above the cover but it feels nice. It's more fragile and a little less forgiving up there though if you get a little enthusiastic.

La Bella 760FS but I have the FL set I'm going to replace them with. I need a little less tension. I don't have super big hands and this neck is already wide.

I would recommend labella LTF4A which comfort tension and instant broke in tone fresh from pack.

The last bass I had was about 4 years ago and it was a JPM/maple America Standard. I actually really loved that bass. It had an amazing feel. I had to sell for financial reasons.

About two months ago I got an OLW/maple America Professional Precision. It was also very nice but I just felt like I need more MOJO so I returned it. It just seemed too sterile.

I had my eye on 58 or 63 for a long time, but of course, it's very expensive. I finally got a great deal on a new one and just went for it. Just like EVERYONE else says, IT'S TRUE, the American Vintage is SO WORTH IT over the American Professional. I had mine setup with La Bella flats and it just sounds so balsy and awesome.

The SMELL of this bass when you open the case, OH MY GOD. It smells like a freshly waxed 60s car. The build, fit and finish is absolutely flawless. Mine weighs 8/13 so pretty light as well (with covers.) The necks is extremely comfortable and to me feels much better than the American standard/pro. It's wide but somehow just feels so nice that way - and I have very small hands (my girlfriend says I should be a women's hand model - LOL!)

Anyway, for anyone on the fence about this bass, just do it immediately. I can't see how you would ever regret it.

Lastly, as people have said many times, pictures do these basses NO justice. They are so beautiful in person.

Sweet! Go get some Sixties shades!;)

I bought this one unseen last night, on eBay. Scary as heck! I've never before paid so much for a single item on eBay.. But the gut feel is good though. Dealer in LA where I bought it got the bass straight from the Fender factory in CA just few days ago. Christmas gift from me to me:)

Awesome, good luck! I love mine, be sure to get a good setup done. Mine was high as hell from the factory and Sweetwater's "setup" didn't help. I got a setup from a nearby, very well respected luthier here in North Hollywood and he said my bass was a gem - made perfectly. He set it up nice and low, tightened the neck and now its absolutely a dream.

Many thanks! I simply adore that faded blue and mint combination, to me its the perfect vintage look:) Yes, I asked the seller to set up a low action before shipping(The guys at AllInOneGuitar in LA are guitar and bass geeks).
EDIT: I didn't ask them to do anyhing with the neck, tighten it,etc. Should I? The bass is brand new and the neck supposed to be tightend enough from the factory?

Sorry, I meant tighten the truss-rod, something SW obviously did not do with mine. Anyone setting up a bass knows this is part or the process if necessary, I wouldn't worry.
