I'm fairly certain it was stopped by 2000. Fender revised the American Standard in 1995 and I know it was happening with that revision forward for a few years. I think it continued at least until 1999? The bursts had the veneer tops but the easiest finish to see it on is Sunburst. If the tummy contour is "black" in color, then it has a veneer top. Solid colors didn't have a veneer, since the grain was irrelevant for the finish.Does anyone know when this stopped?....i have a 2006 and its def not veneered
