NBD!! Blue-burst Deluxe content!!!

Just traded for this! I know very little about this particular model other than that it's a USA Precision Deluxe from 1996, so if any of you fine bass aficionados care to give me a little history then feel free. Also, if anyone would like to PM me a ballpark value, I would be incredibly grateful.

Here's the pics fellas!!

Got a chance to gig the bass over the weekend!

I really enjoyed the way the active preamp works. I've had several active basses in the past, but this one seems easier to get a good in-the-mix sound out of.

The neck feels nice, very substantial in the hand, and the tuners seem smooth and function well.

The finish drew tons of compliments from both musicians and the crowd. I actually had one person ask if they could photograph it in the rack between sets hahaha!

But anyhoo, I'm still a man bitten by the fretless bug, so my time with this fine instrument may be short lived. But either way, I believe this has been a great trade :)

These were introduced in '95. They're nice basses, particularly the Precision Deluxes. As noted, that big fat bridge pickup was quite nice.

I was GAS'ing at the time for the same bass in the Vintage Blonde. I ordered one from my local shop, but there was a fairly lengthy delay. Finally, I lost patience waiting and snagged an AV '62 Reissue P at a one-day sale. Probably for the best because I'm basically a passive Fender guy. But these Deluxes were very nice. Congrats!

The top and back are actually ash veneers and the middle body wood is alder. It was a cost saving measure. Nice basses but the ones I played I can't say the p and bridge pickup were balanced well.
Yes, they were definitely veneered. I remember on some sort of Fender or guitar forum in the mid 90's when all of the bursts finishes were exposed as veneered and the meltdown was epic.

I had a Stratocaster American Deluxe Plus something in that finish with the Lace Sensors. It was a beautiful guitar and played great. I didn't care for the Laces (Red, Blue, Silver) and sold it. I should've kept it and swapped the pickups.
