NBD: Carvin Icon 4

I'm not sure you realize how this works...

Most likely you can get those options on an Icon right now. You just have to ask... :hmm:

MM

You're correct. I wasn't aware of that!

I thought you were limited to the soapbars on the Icon and Bromberg basses. I've always wanted a neck-thru, dual-MM 4-stringer in my stable (the Warwicks just don't do it for me). I'm glad to hear that Carvin can make it possible!

Yup, they'll do it but it will be considered an "Option 50" which will forfeit your 10 day trial. You'll still get your normal warranty, but you lose your 10 day "return it for any reason" trial.

Sometimes they will still permit a return on an option 50, though. I'm betting if you pushed the issue, they'd still give the ten day trial on double MMs since the bass would still be very sellable if returned. It sure couldn't hurt to ask.

Just got my 5 last week. Absolutely love everything about it!

Slight hijack....

The Icon balances very well. It has the most "piano like" E string I've ever heard on any other bass.

Better than your B75?...or does it balance as good as your BB75?...with the neck more in an upright position? I have gas for an Icon, but I like my neck more in an upright position. When you look hard at these two, there is not much of a difference where the upper horn ends in respect to the neck line.

I would love to hear you opinion since you own both

I'm just going to say this. The option 50 thing like most other options is subject to wiggle room! I know. I returned mine with four types of, "option 50", and then went back thirty minutes later and rebought it. Just saying. They will work with you, in whatever capacity they can. Congrats to all you new owners, soon to be owner, and fellow GASSERS. I've only been playin my SB5000 for five months and already hear the call of a sweet fretless calling out. GAS.

how would you describe the tone with the all maple body compared to a more traditional wood? im considering a maple one myself. i like heavy basses. i own a solid rosewood bass and it is heavy, and sturdy and has sustain for days. the notes seem to jump off the bass
