I moved mine exactly like you said, from pickup toward the bridge, right up against the pickguard.

I have one of those basses and it's really nicely made. I had a pickguard made (in black) and asked them not to include the tugbar holes. Unfortunately I didn't think of that when I had the parchment-black-parchment one made so I just filled the holes with a couple of pickguard screws. Looks better than open holes IMO.As a matter of fact, I was entertaining that notion.

Congrats on your bass.
Lol. For sure. Thank you!You really got a great one there …and the bass is nice, too!![]()
Right up against the pickguard would be directly above the pickup... no? See pic below.I moved mine exactly like you said, from pickup toward the bridge, right up against the pickguard.

They are on back order at GC (where my wife purchased it). Maybe I'll just get a refund and go to Sweetwater and buy one. It's only 90 minutes from our house. Plus, I can play (and inspect) the 4 available models they have there. You will love the replacement, too. Send it back.

I wouldn’t worry about it.Possible bummer here with the new bass, guys/gals. When I was cleaning the bass tonight, I noticed an imperfection on the fretboard right between the fifth and sixth frets. It looks like some type of a little gouge. When I run my finger over it there is the slightest little feeling of a dent. Hardly noticeable. Just wondering if this is going to cause problems down the road. Do you think this warrants me returning the bass?View attachment 4517688 . I'm really upset right now because I love this thing! Thoughts?

It doesn't. I'm just not sure that that gouge won't start chiping/peeling with time.Doesn’t look like it will affect playability at all so me personally, I wouldn’t give it a second thought.
I have a Nash '53 P-Bass and I would recommend one of these Zero Mod PBT1 Vintage Precision Telecaster Bass Thumb Rest Clear It solved the "where do I rest" problem and looks cool to boot.A few months ago, I visited Sweetwater and tried out a few basses. One of them was a Squier CV 50s P. I liked it but I was having a rough time getting comfortable with using that single coil pup as an anchor. I knew I would eventually get used to it but then I thought the neck was a bit to chunky for my small hands and short fingers. Anyhow, I talked myself out of it.
I guess I had spoken about my interest in that bass (a few months ago) and my wife took notice. I never really mentioned it at all after that.
And in the meantime I end up getting a Sterling Ray 34PB. Awesome bass and I love it.
Well, I open a gift from the wife this afternoon and there it is... a Squier CV 50s P in white blond. I've been playing it a couple hours this evening and I'm diggin' it! Going to put flats on it, get a nice wide padded strap, and dView attachment 4516803 o a proper set up. The action is a bit high right now but it still plays nicely. I got a pretty nice SKB gig bag to boot. My wife is cool. I appreciate her understanding my passion for music and the bass!
Thanks for the recommendation Prapitat. Unfortunately, I am not comfortable resting my thumb in that area. I would need to drill into the body because I play (for the most part) about 3-4 inches past the pickup (toward the bridge). I have begun to develop a "floating thumb" type of technique when playing the E string. I employ a floating anchor for the other strings. It seems to be working well.
