NBD... caught off guard!

A few months ago, I visited Sweetwater and tried out a few basses. One of them was a Squier CV 50s P. I liked it but I was having a rough time getting comfortable with using that single coil pup as an anchor. I knew I would eventually get used to it but then I thought the neck was a bit to chunky for my small hands and short fingers. Anyhow, I talked myself out of it.

I guess I had spoken about my interest in that bass (a few months ago) and my wife took notice. I never really mentioned it at all after that.

And in the meantime I end up getting a Sterling Ray 34PB. Awesome bass and I love it.

Well, I open a gift from the wife this afternoon and there it is... a Squier CV 50s P in white blond. I've been playing it a couple hours this evening and I'm diggin' it! Going to put flats on it, get a nice wide padded strap, and d

o a proper set up. The action is a bit high right now but it still plays nicely. I got a pretty nice SKB gig bag to boot. My wife is cool. I appreciate her understanding my passion for music and the bass!

I have the same bass in the same colorway. It's my go to bass when I'm home. I actually played it out a week ago.
I bought mine used and it came with flats. I had never used flats before and didn't like them so I changed them to a used set of rounds I had. Anyhoo, so much fun to play and gig. Enjoy.
Good news and great to hear. I can't wait to get some strap locks, a wide, padded strap, (probably) EB Cobalt Flats, a proper setup and then give her a good workout! Merry Christmas!

I bought the sunburst 50's a few months ago from SW and I absolutely love it. I saw one just under 9lbs with the color/wood selection just perfectly matched (no seams visable) and I just had to have it. Aside from maybe swapping out the pickup and upgrading the tuners eventually, I am completely attached to this bass as an affordable version of an early 50's precision. I do kind of wish it was string-through body but it's definitely not a deal breaker. Enjoy yours!

Wow,what a coincidence, been looking at the Squier '50s Precision myself. Came across one that seller had a better price, than SW. So it should be on its way after Christmas weekend. Might get it sometime next week? Previous owner switched pickup to Seymour Duncan, and he said he had flats on it now. I prefer roundwounds, myself. Will check it out once I get. And Merry Christmas,to you and yours!
