AFAIK, this was an aftermarket refin and its supposedly of very good quality.

Also-WOW, that fretless neck has some gorgeous figure in it.

Yep. NBD for me, traded a MM Sabre to shrigg for it. It's pretty relieving to go from 10.5 lbs to 7 lbs. Can't wait to get the fretless neck back on it, though.

Kelly was the original owner of the jj helms bass that has been owned by everyone on talkbass (currently me- and ending with me, that bass fits me really well). Nice guy, I have talked with him a few times via email. He has good taste in basses, as you can see!

I bought the last Helms 5 string that Kelly had built from him and totally love it. You're right: Man with gold fingers have excellent bass taste!
