I picked this up pretty cheap off my local craigslist:

Fender Jazz Bass Special.jpeg

I really didn't need another bass, but couldn't turn it down - $300 with a Fender hardshell case...

nope, no passing that up, luv the cool copper finish. I nailed the Super Power Jazz version for the same price and tho I dig the scooped looks and graphite neck better I'm betting yours has a wider tone selection I'd prefer, cos mine is ALL Jazz lol but the Japan series were of super build and sound quality. congrats!

I've had an MIJ Jazz Bass Special fretless for years, and also have a CIJ Mustang Reissue - besides having owned at least another 4 or 5 Fender Japan basses over the years... To be honest, none of them have matched the build quality of the US made Fenders I've owned over the years - which is probably close to 2 dozen... In this case, the neck pocket is significantly more loose than that of my '76 P, which until now was the loosest Fender I own... Fortunately, a loose neck pocket has never bothered me, since they've never caused me any difficulty... Here's the fretless:

Yeah, I suppose - besides, having 23 basses isn't at all excessive, is it?
I look at this way... you say you have 23 basses... that's a 2 and a 3, of you add the two it's only 5. If you subtract the 2 from the 3... well than it's only 1 and even if you multiply the two... it's only 6.

Yeah... I guess that's a little bit of a stretch....

And that logic doesn't work with my wife either...

Congrats on a great score :)
