So I held off on posting this for a bit just because it was part of the Winter Build-Off over in the Luthier's Corner here on TB. As much as I wanted to post it to get everyone to vote for me so I could win, it seemed kind of douchy. 
Anyways, I'm calling this New Bass Day for me. This is a custom build that I built myself, based off the Marleaux Diva design. So yeah, pretty much none of this is original, it's my interpretation of Marleaux's beautiful design. Go ahead and slam me for copying, I'm okay with it. It is not for sale, it was built for me. This is my 2nd ever bass build and happened in a 3 month time frame for the WBO, so it really pushed my building abilities.
This one has a wenge-purpleheart neck-thru section with wenge-purpleheart body wings and topped with a flame maple bookmatched top. She has a Bolivian Rosewood fretboard that I bookmatched at the pickup. The top isn't "amazing" flame like most you see out there. But, interesting story, it was a reject from a local guitar factory here in the Tacoma, WA area. So, either Warmoth or Sound Guitar Works kicked this top to the curb because it wasn't good enough, and I snatched it for $20. This bass is not light with all the wenge and purpleheart, she weighs in at 9lbs-7oz. It has a 34" scale length with position markers to the 24th "fret location". I did a matching headstock cap and a purple to blue reverse-burst. This was my first ever dyed wood attempt, and while I know it's not for everyone since it's kind of "in your face", I love it and since I built it for me...
I used a Delano Xtender pickup and wired it up passive with just a volume knob, no tone. So she's as simple as can be, volume straight to the jack. I turned my own custom wenge-purpleheart knob on my lathe.
I've still got some setup stuff to suss out before it's ready to be a regular player, but that's fairly minor in the grand scheme of things. It makes noise as is, so that's good enough to call it a bass.
