First off, I don't condone counterfeit instruments or selling them as the real thing.
I have been wanting a copy of this bass for awhile, especially since I don't want to ruin a $2k instrument if I decide to attempt mods. Ordered this COPY from eBay (China, obviously). When researching before hand I couldn't find any reviews on a China COPY of this bass, so that has prompted me into posting this.
(Yes, this could have been a luck of the draw as ordering china instruments can be risky)
Out of the box everything seemed great. Decent intonation and action, though I did do a proper setup (neck needed a shim to get the action where I wanted it). Electronics and pickup are good, as well, so I probably won't replace them (for now). Truss rod works fine and frets are smooth and polished.
After playing it live for the first time with the full band I have to say I am very impressed by the build quality and electronics. Sits well in the mix and the pickup has a very nice growl. Only bad thing to say about it is that it's a China COPY and a bit heavy (almost as heavy as my Fender Modern Player Jass V).
My 2 cents, if you are willing to risk a couple hundred on a China bass, I say give it a go. I have multiple times and although I could have just been lucky with all my purchases I have yet to receive a lemon. (Like any other gamble, your results may vary).
