Failed? He sold the company for a fair amount of money. Now he's starting something new.I'm curious why he failed at Lakland to begin with. But I suppose that shows that outward success doesn't indicate success.
Or did I miss something?

If I recall correctly, the OP stated that per his subsequent exchange with Mr. Lakin that the omission of internal packing materials to protect the bass was not a mistake but rather something he didn't feel was important. The OP has also stated that there are other issues, and either alluded to or flat-out stated that issues include some that were not mentioned here.

No, that's not what I meant by plural. It wasn't just shipping damage (or what I would consider a little). I didn't get into the the other stuff because, like you said yourself, I thought it was fair to let Dan have a chance to fix the issues with mine. And have a chance to look at the other basses before he sent them out.
As for the shipping... I reported what Dan said. When I brought it to his attention, it wasn't an oversight on his part - it wasn't a consideration. I hope I convinced him it should be.
I believe this is the OP's post you're referring to?
Perhaps when the OP has reached a resolution he will shed more light on the matter.
Yes and yes.
I mentioned the packing because I think that if I hadn't made an issue of it then Dan would possibly have sent them *all* out like that. That's not good for anyone.
I believe my other issues are "one-offs" which can be easily fixed BUT indicate a lack of QC, which is the larger issue. By bringing these to Dan's attention I hope that he will take the time and effort to fine-tooth the other basses to make sure they go out as they are supposed to. Maybe mine was the only one with problems? Maybe not.
Yes, you got it exactly regarding both the packing and the other issues. I alluded to them but did not specify. The bass goes back tomorrow and Dan will do what he can to rectify the situation.
It was the same way here until labor unions.
Uh, not even remotely the same
Notice that it doesn't say anything about North or South Korea on the headstock. The real story is that these basses are part of a world domination attempt by Kim Jung Un. Be sure to wear a dosimeter when you play them...

So let me see If I got this right, #001 which was most likely checked out by several folks waiting to see what these new basses were about got put in the wrong box and shipped without a bag.
It sounds like this was shipped in error. Is Dan going to make it right?
Can someone please explain to me how Lakland Failed? Dan ran Lakland for several years very successfully, after which he sold the business to John and Bo. The business never declared Bankruptcy.... how is that failure?

But I'm quite certain there are plenty (millions?) of non-unionized American workers who are granted the ultimate indulgence of plastic safety glasses...
HOW is that intriguing? That's the most commonplace body wood in existence.
I'd be more than happy to explain that to you. D. Lakin basses' direct competition is Lakland's Skyline series. Lakland Skylines are not available with alder wood bodies. That's why I said what I said in my post. Ok?
REALLY? does this thread have to go there...???
lmao....Milwaukee not Hawaii.....and we MAY have alot in common...depending on how you meant your postWell clearly you're part of the conspiracy. Rumor has it you really weren't born in Hawaii. And there may be fracking involved. This rabbit hole just keeps getting deeper...
I don't mean anything I type.
Except for that. ^^^
No wait...what was the question? Oh yeah, the radioactive North Korean jazz bass conspiracy (RNKJBC). Shipping without the protective material was to allow thetans to escape while in transit. Once Tom cruise comes out of Stan's closet the secret signal will be sent.
