Maybe Dan is gunshy about the headstock, in the video he mentions how Fender threatened
litigation over Lakland's headstock, and they changed it. The more I see the Lakin headstock,
the more it grows on me. Different strokes, different stocks!

I think Lakin hit it outta the park.

I loved the Mosrite headstock. People are just used to the Fender headstock after all these years. As I stated before,
it bears repeating...that Fender headstock with some of the bigger tuners, dives like a submarine.
The D. Lakin headstock looks sleek imo.

Do you mean as in neck dive? Of the many dozens of classic style 4 string Fenders I've played, spanning from vintage to modern, I have never once experienced neck dive. Ever. I'm sure they're out there, maybe some lunkers from the 70's, but are definitely the exception rather than the norm.

And thankfully they always will. Lakin's headstock is a clean, economical and understated nod to the basic Fender designs he's working from. I find a lot of appeal in his being able to pull that off in an instantly recognizable design. This is pure opinion though no right or wrong here except at a personal level.

Even if I didn't like the headstock I'd be inclined to overlook it just because I really dig what Lakin is trying to do with these instruments. I can't help but think Leo would aprove.

Exactly what I was thinking. I've owned many a Fender including a couple boat anchors form the 70s but neck dive? Never. Gibson on the other hand...
